In this article, I would like to talk how you can use X-men screensavers for free. Basically, a screensaver is what you see after you leave your computer idle for a while.

But it also depends on whether you have enabled this feature.

For those who are already familiar I have some great screensavers you can download below. But for those who are not so sure, just follow my instructions.

I will try my very best to make the instructions as simple as possible for those who are not so tech-savvy.

Use X-men Screensavers For Free

I have some great X-men screensavers that are free for you to use on your computer. Do not forget to install the pre-requisite program first before starting here - click here to view pre-requisite program.

Most of the programs have "readme" files, but I will still briefly write some instructions for your convenience. However, you still might need to read the file for more information.

Currently, my web server does not accept ".zip" files. Therefore, PLEASE download and change the extension of the file - click here to learn how to change extension of file.

File name: X-men-SS-1.txt - Click here to download

Instructions:

  1. Unzip a file using Winzip to your C drive or a location you are familiar with.
  2. You will see a file called "X-men-SS-1.exe".
  3. Double left-click on the file to execute it.
  4. Click Yes
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Yes
  7. Click Next
  8. Click Install
  9. You will see a folder and click finished.
  10. A "Display Properties" dialog box will pop up.
  11. Click ok to set it to be your screensaver.
  12. A shortcut icon will be placed on your desktop to run the screensaver by default.

Instructions:

  1. Unzip a file using Winzip to your C drive or a location you are familiar with.
  2. You will see a file called "X-men-SS-3.exe".
  3. Double left-click on the file to execute it.
  4. Click Next
  5. Click Accept
  6. Click Finish
  7. Click Install
  8. A "Display Properties" dialog box will pop up.
  9. Click the arrow on the pull-down menu and select "Ex-Men 2" screensaver.
  10. Click ok to set it to be your screensaver.
  11. A file called "UnInstall Ex-Men 2" will be placed on your desktop.

Advanced Features Instructions:
You can run, configure the timing of displaying the different X-men images on your screensaver and uninstall the screensavers for "X-men-SS-1.zip" and "X-men-SS-2.zip" only by following these instructions.

  1. Click start on your taskbar
  2. Click on All Programs
  3. Click on X-men
  4. From there you can select to run, configure or uninstall the screensaver.

These X-men screensavers are free for you to download and many thanks to the creators! Also, they are tested on my Pentium 4 and Window XP Professional Service Pack 2 system. However, I think most of the screensavers here are also compatible with other systems. But the procedures of setting it might be different.

Recommended Pre-requisite Program Download

Most of the files that I have uploaded here are zipped up in a zip file, which means you need a program to unzip it and I recommend using Winzip - click here to download Winzip.

After doing that, you can unzip the X-men Screensavers made free for download above. However, you can only try the Winzip program for a trial period before you must start paying.

Change File Extension

Instructions:

  1. On the Tools menu in My Computer or Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Click Apply
  4. Click Ok
  5. Right-click on downloaded file
  6. Select Rename
  7. Change "txt" to "zip" instead
  8. A pop-up box will appear - click here to view screenshot.
  9. Click Yes and file extension has been changed.
